How we work in Derby

Derby's inter-war semis — Chaddesden, Allenton, Sinfin — are typically decent structurally but thermally poor, with rafter depths of around 100mm and no meaningful loft insulation left over from the original build. They're a perfect fit for SF19+ between the rafters, often stacked with a layer of mineral wool between the ceiling joists to push the U-value down further. We do a lot of this work for Derby Homes and private landlords prepping for EPC re-rating. In the Darley Abbey conservation area, we work to a different specification entirely — keeping all work internal, matching the cold-side ventilation to the original roof build-up, and providing the paperwork the planners and LABC need to sign off the work without fuss.

What we install

SF19+ is our workhorse between-rafters product for retrofit lofts — 11 layers in a slim flexible roll that fits between shallow Victorian rafters without losing headroom. SF40 is specified where a higher U-value is needed or where the roof element is the main line of thermal defence — 37 layers, 12 reflective foils, currently the top of the SuperFOIL range. SFNC is our non-combustible variant for flats, commercial buildings and any application where fire rating drives the specification.
