About Superfoil Roofing

A family-run team of roofers and insulation specialists who decided that fitting one product — really, really well — was more useful to our customers than juggling half a trade. Here is who we are, how we got here, and what you should expect when you hand us the keys to your roof.

How we started

Superfoil Roofing grew out of a traditional Northern roofing firm that had been stripping and re-covering slate and tile roofs for the better part of two decades. Around 2012, we started seeing multi-layer foil insulation creep onto specifications — first from architects working on listed conversions, then from main contractors on new builds, and eventually from homeowners who had read about it online and wanted it in their loft.

The problem was that nobody in our area was fitting it properly. Rolls were being stapled up with no air gap, overlaps were left untaped, and vapour control layers were being punctured as an afterthought. We watched a couple of jobs go back for re-work and decided there was a real niche for a crew who took the install seriously: got trained up, read the technical guidance, and fitted the stuff the way the manufacturer actually intended.

That niche turned into our main business. Today, Superfoil installations are all we do. We still strip slates and flash chimneys where the job calls for it, but our ladders come down every night with the same silver rolls going up the next morning.

What we believe

One job, done properly

We specialise in multi-layer foil because specialism beats generalism every time. A crew that fits the same product every day will spot problems — condensation risks, awkward junctions, missing air gaps — that a jack-of-all-trades crew will walk past.

Honest surveys

If foil insulation isn't the right answer for your roof, we'll tell you. We have turned down jobs where a warm-deck flat roof rebuild or a traditional PIR refit was a better solution for the customer. A free survey that ends in "don't spend the money" is still a useful survey.

Written quotes, fixed prices

Every quote we issue is in writing, itemised, and fixed for 60 days. No day-rate surprises, no "extras" appearing halfway through the job. If we find something unexpected once we're up there, we stop and talk to you before anything changes.

Respect for the property

Dust sheets go down, gardens get protected, and skips get fenced. We keep radios low, we don't smoke on site, and we clear up thoroughly at the end of every day. Most of our work comes from neighbours who watched the last job and liked what they saw.

Paperwork that protects you

You walk away from every job with a product guarantee, a workmanship warranty, BBA/LABC compliance notes for Building Control, and photographs of the critical stages. That paperwork matters when you sell the house.

People we'd let near our own mum's roof

Every installer on the van has either come through our apprentice scheme or been personally vouched for. We don't use day-rate agency labour, and we don't sub the work out. The name on the van is the crew on the roof.

Accreditations, insurance and guarantees

Our installers work to the SuperFOIL Approved Installer standard, which means we fit the product to manufacturer specification and our installs are covered by the full SuperFOIL product guarantee — currently rated at a 50-year functional lifespan for the core foil materials. We are LABC-registered for Building Control sign-off on regulated works, and all materials we fit are BBA-tested and CE-marked where applicable.

On the insurance side, we carry £5 million public liability cover and £10 million employers' liability, and we are happy to supply current certificates before any work starts. Every roofing installation carries our own 10-year workmanship warranty on top of the manufacturer's product guarantee, so both the material and the install are protected.

For flat roof and conservatory warm-roof conversions, we are also members of the Competent Roofer scheme where relevant, which means certain works can be self-certified for Building Regulations compliance without a separate LABC inspection — saving time and cost on smaller retrofit projects.

Our service area

We operate across the North West, Yorkshire, the East and West Midlands, and Lincolnshire — with regular work in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, Bradford, Stoke-on-Trent, Derby, Preston, Blackpool, Chester and Grimsby. For larger commercial and new-build contracts we will travel further, so please ask — a quick phone call will confirm whether we can get to you without silly mileage costs.

Why choose a specialist over a generalist

Multi-layer foil insulation is a lovely product to fit when it goes on correctly, and a nightmare when it doesn't. The common mistakes — wrong air gap, unsealed laps, compressed product, broken vapour control, incompatible tape — are almost all avoidable with experience. A generalist roofer who fits foil three times a year will make those mistakes occasionally. We will not, because we fit it every day and we know what to look for before the first staple goes in.

That focus is the reason our warranty claim rate is effectively zero after a decade of installs, and it is the reason main contractors on new-build sites keep coming back to us rather than training their own labour on the job. If you are deciding between a local roofer who can "have a go" and a specialist who does this full-time, please at least get both quotes and compare the specification and the paperwork side by side. The difference is usually obvious.

Talk to the people who will actually fit it

No call centre, no salesperson. When you phone us, you get one of the team who will be on site. Ask us anything — the technical stuff, the commercial stuff, the "is this the right thing for my house" stuff. We don't mind.
