Superfoil Contractors β Expert UK Foil Insulation Installers
We are approved Superfoil contractors fitting the full SuperFOIL product range β SF19+, SF40, SFNC, SFTV and bubble-foil specialties β in pitched roofs, flat roofs, walls and floors for homes and commercial buildings throughout the United Kingdom.

There is a world of difference between buying a roll of multi-layer foil from a builder's merchant and having it fitted correctly by an experienced crew. Superfoil only performs to its rated R-value when it is installed as a continuous layer with the correct air gaps, sealed overlaps and compatible counter-battening. Get any one of those wrong and the foil will still look tidy β but thermally it will underperform, condensation can form in the wrong places, and you will have spent money for a marginal result.
As specialist Superfoil contractors, that is what we do every day. Our installers have fitted hundreds of rolls on everything from two-up-two-down terraces in Bradford to listed sandstone farmhouses in rural Cheshire, and the fine details are second nature. We size the air gap correctly for the roof build-up, we lap in the direction of water flow, we tape the seams with SuperFOIL-approved tape, and we leave you with paperwork that stands up to LABC Building Control scrutiny.
The Superfoil products we install
SF19+ multi-layer foil insulation
The workhorse of the range. Eleven layers β including six reflective foil barriers and thermo-foam separation layers β delivered in a slim, flexible roll. The SF19+ is ideal for retrofit work where space between rafters is tight, and for new builds where main contractors want a 3-in-1 product (insulation, radiant barrier and vapour control) that ticks a lot of boxes on one line of the spec.
SF40 ultra-high-performance multifoil
When the project demands maximum thermal performance β a passive-house style new build, a heritage property where external insulation isn't allowed, or a loft conversion that has to meet strict U-values β SF40 is the go-to. Thirty-seven layers including twelve aluminium-coated reflective PET foils and six layers of loft quilt, reaching R-values that outperform every competitor multifoil in the UK market.
SFNC non-combustible foil
For flat-dwelling apartment blocks, shared walls and buildings where fire regulations demand non-combustible materials, SFNC is the correct specification. We use it routinely on housing association work and on converted flats in former mills across the North West.
SFTV, SFBA & the specials
Thermal/vapour barrier wraps, bubble-foil for pipework and tight spaces, breathable multi-foil for timber frame construction β we have installed the lot. If you've been quoted something unusual by your architect, the chances are we've fitted it before.
The installation process, step by step
- Free site survey. One of our senior fitters visits, looks at the existing roof build-up inside and out, measures rafter depths and checks for any damp, rot or timber damage that needs dealing with first.
- Written specification & quote. You receive a plain-English quotation within 48 hours naming the exact Superfoil product, the build-up (battens, air gap, counter-battens, breather membrane) and the scope of associated roofing work β no hidden extras later.
- Scheduling and scaffolding. For full re-roofs we book scaffolding and arrange skip drop-off. For loft-side retrofit work it's far less disruptive β just a dust sheet and a tidy crew.
- Stripping, repairing, preparing. Where we're coming in from the top, existing tiles or slates are lifted and palletised for reuse. Rotten battens or rafters are replaced. The deck is left clean, dry and sound.
- Fitting the Superfoil. Rolls are laid starting at the eaves, lapped uphill, tensioned evenly and stapled through counter-battens. Seams are taped with SuperFOIL-approved tape. Awkward details at valleys, hips and chimneys are carefully hand-cut and dressed.
- Reinstating the roof covering. Battens, membranes and tiles or slates go back on β in many cases the original set, carefully stacked. Ridge, hip and verge details are re-bedded or mechanically fixed to current standards.
- Sign-off and paperwork. You receive installation certification, manufacturer guarantee paperwork and our own 10-year workmanship warranty in writing.
Why our Superfoil installations last
Superfoil will outlast most roof coverings if it's installed correctly. That's a fifty-year-plus product lifespan backed up by independent testing. But longevity only happens when the detailing is right. Cold spots at the wall plate, missed overlaps at the ridge, air gaps that are too tight or too loose, insulation compressed against battens β all of these are common on rushed jobs and all of them shorten performance. Our apprentices are trained before they ever cut a roll, and every project is signed off by a senior installer before we leave the site. It's how we've built a business on referrals in a trade that too often isn't known for its attention to detail.
Who we work for
Most of our work is domestic β homeowners commissioning re-roofs, loft conversions and warm-roof conservatory upgrades. But we regularly install Superfoil on commercial flat roofs, for housing associations, for letting agents with large residential portfolios, and for schools and community buildings looking to cut energy bills. We're comfortable working to planning conditions, conservation area restrictions and insurance claim specifications, and we have public liability insurance to Β£5 million.
